TRB is sponsoring the Workshop on the Value of Transportation Infrastructure on July 23-24, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The goal of the workshop is to look at how different infrastructure valuation methods can be used to support transportation investment decision making. The Moving Ahead for Progress for the 21st Century Act (MAP-21) establishes a performance-based program that is envisioned to improve transportation investment decision making.

The workshop will explore strategies for estimating the value of transportation infrastructure, including those used in the public and private sectors. The workshop will also examine the strengths and weaknesses of candidate approaches for valuing transportation and capturing transportation’s contribution to the economy, quality of life, and to other major lifeline systems such as the power grid, fuel supply chains, and water systems.
